Yoga: Basics

Beginners Yoga to get you moving, improve your flexibility and de-stress body and mind. Yoga for us is all about the breath. Deep breathing lifts your energy and your mood. Take this class a couple of times a week and feel the benefits sooner. All equipment provided. Just wear loose clothing you can move freely in. Suitable for all levels.

Ashtanga

Our attention during this practice is focused upon: asana (the posture), breathing and drishti (gaze point). In Ashtanga there is a set sequence of postures linked by Vinyasa (movement matched to a specific breath). There are 6 sequences of postures and each starts with sun salutations, standing postures and ends with a closing sequence. It is a dynamic style developing strength, stamina and mental focus. The first series takes roughly 1 and a half hours to complete so in hour long classes we will focus on less postures whilst still giving you a flavour of the first series, some yoga experience needed as there will be less demonstration and more hands on adjustments in this class. This style was developed in Mysore, India by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Alignment Based Vinyasa Flow

Alignment based vinyasa yoga that moves with the breath and uses linking sequences to bring postures together. Great for hip flexibility, strength, balance and clarity. Suitable for all levels.

Dharma Yoga

Dharma Yoga is a graceful, yet challenging form of yoga based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s almost fifty years of practice of classical yoga. The practice is appropriate for students of all levels, from beginner to lifelong practitioners and accessible to so many because it meets each student where they are and according to their condition. As students move through the different series, they are encouraged to go deeper and experience the practice in a meditative and spiritual way. Sri Dharma’s passion for helping students go deeper in their practice using only the best and most efficient techniques with the ultimate goal of Self-realization (gaining absolute knowledge of the True Self) is reflected in all aspects of the Dharma Yoga system.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance. In our physical bodies we develop a balance of strength and flexibility. We also learn to balance our effort and surrender in each pose. It can be a powerful tool for self-transformation as we become more aware of breath and the fluctuations of the mind.
An open level class that may incorporate pranayama, meditation or chanting before the final relaxation.

Yoga & Meditation

This class involves asana (postures) to help relieve tension from body and mind, so that you may tap into the meditative aspects of the yoga practice. Each class will allow some time for guided meditation (no meditation experience necessary).
An all levels class looking to develop the path of introspection and mindfulness.
